Defined actions performed on items include:
A user adds a new item.
A user changes the status of an event from ‘Open’ to ‘Closed’.
A user comments on an item.
A user adds a file to an item.
However, not all events are user-initiated. The system can also generate events under specific conditions, such as when a new user is added or removed from the team, or when the team’s tier changes.
While events are used throughout the Sirap.io app, they play a particularly crucial role in three areas:
Generating notifications.
Populating each item’s timeline.
Streaming into the activity feed view.
Events are used to trigger notifications. If you’re the author, assignee, or subscribed to an item, you’ll receive a notification whenever the system detects an event on that item.
In the item preview, you can review each item’s timeline, which lists all the events (including comments) that have occurred throughout its lifecycle.
For instance, you can see when an item’s status changed, what it was changed from and to, and who made the change. You can also track when a new priority was set, a comment was made, an attachment was uploaded, and so on. The timeline captures all the significant events and actions that the item has undergone since its creation.
This feature is valuable for understanding your progress and your team’s progress with the work described in the item. It also provides a historical overview of the item’s development.
All events feed into and populate the Activity feed, one of the views available in the Notifications panel on the right-hand side of the screen. Here, you’ll see all events from your team in real-time as they occur.
